Meet Heidi
Who started the café, and why it matters to her.
A place she wished existed
Heidi Barden started the Bishop's Stortford Menopause Café for a simple reason. This stage of life asks a lot of women, and she wanted somewhere to sit down with others going through the same thing, face to face, over a good cup of coffee.
So she built one. Working with Belle's Place and with Hannah at Café Thyme, who sets aside a lovely separate space each month, the café has grown into a warm, familiar get-together. Some months bring a guest speaker, others are simply a friendly chat. Either way, no one leaves feeling like a stranger.
There is no script and no pressure. Just women looking out for one another, sharing what helps, and making genuine friends along the way.
"There's a lot of demands on us at this time of life. I just really wanted to connect with other ladies going through this, face to face."
